OSAKA--Shoppers in the Namba Walk shopping mall put the finishing touches to the heaviest chocolate in the world on Feb. 11.
The 267-kilogram confection is made up of 250,000 variously colored “marble chocolates,” a well-known type of round chocolate, and has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s heaviest. It is supposed to represent a heart-shaped ring.
About 1,000 people, including passers-by in Osaka’s fashionable Minami district, helped make the prodigious sweet over three days by adding the marble chocolates to the display.
The Guinness certification is conditional on the shop association that organized the display ensuring that all of the chocolate is actually eaten. The shop owners plan to find some way of doing that after Valentine’s Day.
