High school students organize wedding party

April 30, 2012

High school students got a firsthand taste of how hectic the planning and carrying out of a simple wedding can be.

About 120 students at Kagoshima Josei High School in Kagoshima Prefecture did everything from cooking to sewing and makeup for the wedding of a 25-year-old Kagoshima Josei alumna on April 29.

Students in a fashion design course made the bride's dress, and students in a cooking class prepared a full-course meal for the 80 guests who attended the nuptials, which were held at the school. Another student served as master of ceremonies for the event.

Makoto Ishikawa, 17, a third-year student acting as chief organizer, became teary-eyed when she was thanked by the happy couple.

Ishikawa said the students want to organize more weddings.
