URAYASU, Chiba Prefecture--A man suffered minor injuries on May 28 after trying to jump out of a roller-coaster ride at Tokyo DisneySea in a panic over a malfunctioning safety bar, police said.
Oriental Land Co., which operates the Tokyo Disney Resort complex, will suspend operations of Raging Spirits, a two-car ride that accommodates 12 people.
“We deeply apologize for giving trouble to our customer,” an Oriental Land official said.
The safety bar for the customer, a 34-year-old from Obihiro, Hokkaido, had not come down when the cars started to move at 4:10 p.m.
DisneySea employees immediately pushed the emergency button to stop the ride. But the cars started to move again.
During the confusion, the man, who was riding in the rear car, tried to get off the ride. He was dragged for 2 meters before workers pushed the emergency button again to stop the ride.
He suffered slight injuries on his right leg.
