Japanese toymaker Bandai Co. has launched a dedicated online store for customers in Hong Kong.
The Premium Bandai Hong Kong website opened on April 20 and offers Chinese- and English-language versions.
The company already offers a Premium Bandai online store in Japan offering character goods and other exclusive items aimed at adults as well as children. The company uses the website to distribute information on its promotional campaigns.
A key weakness of Japanese companies trying to sell anime and character businesses abroad has been poor marketing. If the Premium Bandai Hong Kong site is successful, it would offer a model for Bandai to expand its operations in other countries and regions.
To celebrate the launch, customers buying some products on the Premium Bandai’s Hobby Online Shop Hong Kong page will receive a free Gundam-themed bag.
