The Yokohama city government will launch a joint promotional campaign for "Precure All Stars New Stage: Mirai no Tomodachi" (Precure All Stars New Stage: Friends of the Future), the latest movie adaptation of the "Precure" animated TV series.
Various events will be offered under the "Yokohama de Precure ni Aou!! Campaign" (Let's meet up with Precure in Yokohama campaign), which will run through April 8.
The city is backing the movie, due to hit movie theaters nationwide on March 17, because it is set in Yokohama. A special screening was held March 10 for Yokohama residents.
Visitors will also be able to take photographs with life-sized panels of Precure characters set up at nine sightseeing spots across the city. Precure-themed rubber stamps will be available at several stations on the Yokohama Municipal Subway system and other locations.
The city government hopes to promote attractions such as the Marine Tower, Yokohama’s Ferris wheel and the historic Red Brick Warehouse, which all feature in the film.
Yokohama has served as a setting for many anime and manga titles, but launching city-backed promotion campaigns is a relatively new thing. Its Culture and Tourism Bureau and the Yokohama City Guide Association recently joined hands to organize guided tours inspired by Studio Ghibli Inc.'s "From Up On Poppy Hill," which was also set in Yokohama.
