Popular manga and anime "Crayon Shin-chan" will celebrate its 20th anniversary with the release of a feature film next month with a subgroup of all-girl idol group AKB48 to sing the theme song.
Watarirouka Hashiritai 7 will sing the theme song of the latest feature adaptation set to hit theaters nationwide on April 14.
Watarirouka Hashiritai 7 has previously collaborated with the TV series, with their ninth single, "Kibo Sanmyaku" (Mountains of Hope), used as the opening theme song.
"We were already really happy with the theme song for the TV series," said team member Mayu Watanabe. "But what an honor it is to sing the theme song for the movie adaptation celebrating its 20th year."
Watarirouka Hashiritai 7 made a guest appearance in a two-part episode of the TV series airing on TV Asahi on March 9 and 16.
Titled "Uchu Kazoku Nohara Dazo" (We're the Nohara Space Family), the film's story takes place on planet Warota.
Shin-chan and the rest of the Nohara family go out to find his grandfather, who has gone missing while he was on planet Warota looking for a heavy stone he could use as a pickling stone. They meet Warotian Mayuyu, and learn that the stone taken by Shin-chan's grandfather is the key to the fate of the planet.
