Robot anime series "Gundam" has been popular for decades, and now leading toymaker Bandai Co. has opened stores selling Mobile Suit Gundam-inspired men's fashion apparel.
The Strict-G Gundam Front Tokyo store opened on April 19 at the DiverCity Tokyo commercial complex.
The Neopasa Shizuoka branch made its debut on April 14 at the Shizuoka SA rest area along the newly opened Shin Tomei Expressway.
The Strict-G brand offers original fashion apparel developed by Bandai. The stores also offer fashion items produced in collaboration with Japan's leading fashion brands, including jeans manufacturer Edwin Ltd., jewelry company Jam Home Made Co. and Swans brand sports eyewear maker Yamamoto Kogaku Co.
Bandai also intends to collaborate with A&T International Inc., which operates military fashion brand Alpha, to introduce new products this fall.
Bandai says it expects to attract fashion-conscious men in their 20s-40s.
The Gundam Front Tokyo branch is located inside the Gundam Front Tokyo indoor theme park dedicated to the popular robot anime series.
The Neopasa Shizuoka branch will also set up an exclusive vending machine for T-shirts.
