Heavy metal band X Japan won the Best International Band award at the Revolver Golden Gods Award Show in Los Angeles last month.

X Japan became the first Asian band to receive the nomination and win the award at the prestigious rock event that took place at L.A.'s Club Nokia.

X Japan beat out top nominees that included Rammstein from Germany, Lacuna Coil from Italy, Sepultura from Brazil, Behemoth from Poland and Meshuggah from Sweden.

First organized by U.S. rock magazine Revolver in 2009, the Golden Gods Awards honor rock and metal musicians for their excellence in 11 categories. This year, Avenged Sevenfold, Slash, Korn and Evanescene vocalist Amy Lee were recognized.

"Thank you, Revolver," X Japan leader Yoshiki said as he accepted the award. "We toured North America in 2010, and we did our first world tour last year … And to our beloved fans, thank you so much for your support. We're gonna keep on rockin'!"

X Japan has been actively hitting foreign shores in recent years, boosting their international profile.
