Tokyo Game Show 2012 unveiled its new logo for the annual convention for video game developers, expected to draw almost 200,000 visitors, with the slogan "Spreading Smiles Through Games."
Running from Sept. 20-23 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, the convention's logo was designed by Ippei Gyobu, a popular illustrator who has provided artwork for the game expo for the past three straight years.
The illustration shows a girl emerging from a world of games, dressed in a futuristic outfit made from various gaming devices. With a smile on her face, she holds out her hand, gesturing to people to attend the convention.
Admission for the first two days of the convention will be limited to press and industry professionals, with the remaining two days open to the general public.
About 195,000 visitors, 180 businesses and 1,550 booths are expected to take part in the convention this year, according to organizers.
The Tokyo Game Show will be jointly hosted by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association and Nikkei Business Publications Inc., with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
