All Nippon Airways Co. has launched a special promotional campaign in collaboration with "Evangelion."
To mark the "ANA x Evangelion" effort, a special logo similar to that of the NERV organization from the anime has been released. It also bears the word "Evangelion: 3.0," a part of the title of the third in the four-part film reboot series slated to hit theaters nationwide this fall.
The logo is featured at the campaign's official website, and is expected to grace airports across the country.
The "Ugoku Evangelion AR" (moving Evangelion augmented reality) app is also available until July 20. Android smartphone users can see a moving image of the Evangelion Unit 01 robot (actual size) at designated spots around Tokyo's Haneda Airport. An iPhone version of the app is also in the works.
All domestic passengers on ANA flights will receive one of four original plastic folders at ANA Festa shops set up at eight airports across the country.
They will also receive an exclusive sticker featuring a memorable line from the anime series if they spend at least 1,000 yen ($12.50) at the shop.
In addition, ANA domestic flight passengers who fill out a membership registration for the campaign on the ANA Mileage Club website are eligible to win one of 5,000 special ANA x Evangelion items on offer.
Japanese airlines, through business tie-ups with anime titles and characters, hope to offer a fun boarding experience for children.
ANA, which is facing fierce competition from low-cost carriers, aims to win new passengers with the help of "Evangelion," which is hugely popular among young anime fans.
The AR app, special wallpaper and more detailed information are available at the official website at (http://www.ana-evangelion.com/index.html).
