Intermestic Inc., which operates the Zoff eyewear retail chain, said it is collaborating with the "K-On!" animated series to release a line of nonprescription glasses inspired by the anime characters.
"K-On!" has collaborated with various companies including a convenience store chain, a railway operator and apparel companies. The "Zoff x 'K-On!' film" project will be its first collaboration with an eyewear retailer.
The exclusive models were designed with the help of the anime production staff to create glasses fit for each character of the anime series, which follows a high school music club.
Pre-orders for six models will be accepted starting from July 20 at the Zoff online store, TBSishop website and elsewhere. The spectacles are designed after the five main members of the music club--Yui, Mio, Ritsu, Tsumugi and Azusa--and Nodoka, who is wearing a pair in the anime.
Each set will include a pair of nonprescription glasses, a case, a cleaning cloth and a charm. The Nodoka model will be a faithful replica of the red-framed glasses she is wearing in the anime.
A special illustration to celebrate the collaboration was also revealed, offering the new looks of the girls with the Zoff glasses.
A feature film adaptation of "K-On!" released in December last year attracted more than 230,000 moviegoers in the first two days and more than 1 million in a month.
The film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 18.
