Chara Hobby 2012 C3 X Hobby, one of Japan's largest trade shows devoted to character goods and hobby items, will return Aug. 25-26 to Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, the organizer announced.
The annual summer event was launched in 2004, although its predecessor was first held in 1992.
Official booths from companies producing toys, hobby items, anime and other video software, videogames and books will be set up at the venue. Live stage performances and talks featuring a wide variety of guests will be offered, in addition to a market for authorized fan-made goods and a play space for popular card games.
Most of corporate booths, including one jointly operated by leading monthly hobby magazines Dengeki Hobby Magazine and Hobby Japan, will handle character- and hobby-related products.
Each booth will host mini events, offer limited and prerelease items for sale and reveal new products.
Other attractions will include the GK Figure Zone, which is a sale and exhibition section for custom garage-kit models created by professional modelers, and the Cosplay Plaza section for cosplayers.
The Card Game Festa 2012 will also be held on Aug. 25 to include a seminar, exhibition and various card game tournaments.
The Chara Hobby Market featuring many rare items made by amateur modelers will take place the following day.
One of the highlights of the live performances at the main stage will be the "Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere" animated TV series, whose second season premieres in July.
