The 9th Tokyo International Music Market (TIMM) will be held Oct. 24-25 in the capital's Odaiba district.

It will coincide with film market event TIFFCOM, the Tokyo International Anime Festival (TIAF) 2012 Autumn and the content licensing fair Creative Market Tokyo (CMT) 2012.

Business meetings and seminars will be offered at the Grand Pacific Le Daiba hotel. Live concerts will be held at the nearby Zepp DiverCity Tokyo hall.

The Foundation for Promotion of Music Industry and Culture co-hosts the TIMM with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The TIMM is held as part of the Japan International Contents Festival (CoFesta), which promotes the Japanese content development industry.

It serves as a music fair to offer international music industry professionals a chance to network with their Japanese counterparts.

Japanese companies will set up booths to promote Japanese musical talent overseas.

The concerts serve as a live showcase so industry professionals from outside Japan can get a glimpse of singers and groups before they decide which ones to promote.

Previously, many anime song artists have taken the stage because of their worldwide popularity.

In 2011, 80 buyers from outside Japan were invited for the TIMM, with 52 companies and organizations at home and abroad participating.

TIFFCOM, the affiliated market of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) for film, TV shows and other content will be held on Oct. 23-25 this year at the same venue, in addition to the TIAF and the CMT.

The TIAF serves as a platform to promote anime shows overseas, while the CMT is a business matching fair for content sales and licensing.

With the nation's four leading international fairs for visual and audio content sharing the same venue, the organizers are hoping for a record attendance.

Organizers are now accepting applications from companies that want to set up booths and musicians eager to perform on stage.
