CS broadcaster Family Gekijo Corp. said it will air final episodes from 24 classic animated TV series produced by Tatsunoko Production Co. to celebrate the anime studio's 50th anniversary.
The two-part special program will air Sept. 23 and Sept. 30 on the CS channel. "Yatterman," "Gatchaman," "Speed Racer" are among famous titles slated to hit the small screen.
Sci-fi anime fans can look forward to final episodes of "Urashiman," "Gold Lightan: The Gold Warrior," "Zillion," "Mospeada" and other anime series from the 1980s.
The special program will offer a retrospective at the long-established studio, which has produced anime shows in wide-ranging genres, including hard action, slapstick, science fiction and fantasy.
There will also be a special three-part miniseries featuring Hiroshi Sasagawa, the backbone of Tatsunoko Production since its pioneering days. He was at the helm of the studio's first animated TV series, "Space Ace," and many other classics.
Sasagawa will talk about the theme behind the final episodes of three of his favorite shows and reveal tidbits that are bound to delight audiences.
