A Chinese subsidiary of mobile communications company Nihon Enterprise Co. said it has released a digital comic version of popular Chinese epic novel "JiuDingJi" for mobile phones in China.
Beijing YZH Wireless Net Technology Co. is promoting the digital comic business as its core operation in China. It aims to expand its lineup to take the lead in the rapidly growing Chinese mobile content market.
China has become the world's No. 1 mobile phone country, boasting more than 1 billion mobile phone users. With third-generation mobile phones expected to replace the previous models, the mobile content market looks certain to drastically expand its scale.
The Nihon Enterprise group has released about 250 digital comic titles for smartphones and feature phones.
The original novel of "JiuDingJi" is a heroic fantasy novel set in historical China. The digital comic is offered through Chinese literary portal qidian.com operated by Cloudary Corp. The e-book edition of the original novel has achieved more than 55 million downloads.
The latest digital comic version is available on a platform developed by China Mobile Ltd. for its mobile phones. By joining hands with the country's biggest mobile operator, Nihon Enterprise intends to increase its profile in China.
