Sony Corp. announced that it will release a new personal 3-D viewer on Oct. 13 that simulates sitting in a movie theater viewing a 750-inch screen.
The 3-D viewer is a visor-style display and external processor unit called HMZ-T2, and can be used for games and viewing movies.
When the HMZ-T2 is connected to a recorder or game console, the user will see dynamic 3-D images and experience powerful sound comparable to being in a movie theater.
The unit weighs 330 grams, 20 percent lighter than its predecessor, the HMZ-T1, which was released last year.
The company plans to sell the HMZ-T2 for around 70,000 yen ($893).
