Mitsubishi Electric Corp. announced Feb. 29 it has received an order to install nine elevator units--including some of the fastest in India--in the 53-story residential Ahuja Tower currently under construction in Mumbai.
Four of the elevators will travel at 6 meters per second, or 21.6 kph, the company said.
The order was placed by Ahuja Constructions.
Ahuja Tower comprises two residential buildings scheduled to be completed later this year in the upscale Worli area.
For enhanced safety and comfort, the four fastest elevators will incorporate a security system with ID cards for access to predetermined floors. In-car touch screen operating panels can be customized to accommodate special needs of the buildings, Mitsubishi Electric said.
