NYK shipping line will display a model of its concept ship, the “NYK Super Eco Ship 2030,” at Expo 2012, an international exposition in Yeosu, South Korea, from May 12 to Aug. 21, the company announced on May 11.

The theme of the expo will be “The Living Ocean and Coast: Diversity of Resources and Sustainable Activities,” and will feature displays illustrating the progress and future prospects of maritime technology.

The Japan pavilion will feature a model of the NYK Super Eco Ship 2030, which aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 69 percent through use of technologies available in 2030. A video about the ship will be shown to highlight this eco-friendly cargo vessel for the next generation.

The Japan pavilion is being set up under the theme of “Our future is a tapestry of forest, village, and sea,” and will emphasize the link that Japan has maintained among its forests, villages and ocean.
