A group of Japanese companies will conduct a demonstration test in Kita-Kyushu on a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) to help develop "smart stores" that use electricity more effectively, the companies said May 24.
The demonstration test will run from June 2012 to December 2014.
Fuji Electric Co. will develop the store energy controller and energy-efficient store devices and systems.
Denso Corp. is in charge of developing the BEMS controller, battery unit and power conditioners.
Toyota Tsusho Corp. will develop a photovoltaic generation system that works with the BEMS.
FamilyMart Co., Takamiya Corp. and Yamato Transport Co. will provide the locations in the city in Fukuoka Prefecture where the systems are to be installed and operated. They will also conduct tests on the various systems of the BEMS.
