BIZ BRIEF: Canon company in Brazil to produce digital cameras

Canon Inc. on June 11 said it has established a company in Brazil that will produce digital cameras for the emerging economy starting in July 2013.

Canon Indústria de Manaus Ltda., located in the state of Amazonas, will have 210 million yen in capital and employ around 60 people, Canon said in a statement.

The camera maker said demand for digital cameras is expected to increase in Brazil.
