BIZ BRIEF: 3 Japanese firms invest in Canadian solar energy project

Osaka Gas Co., Mitsubishi Corp. and Sharp Corp. agreed June 15 to purchase a large-scale solar power generation project in Ontario being developed by Recurrent Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sharp. The three companies also agreed to jointly operate the project in the future.

The three firms will jointly invest in the project through a company to be established in Canada. Commercial operations are expected to begin at the end of this year and gradually expand through the end of 2013.
