NEC Corp. announced June 20 that it has established the NEC Corporation of Korea as part of strengthening its regional information and communications technology business. The new company is scheduled to begin operations in July.
NEC established representative offices in Seoul in the early 1960s that have since served as a base for business development in fields that include communications systems, broadcast systems, social infrastructure and others. At present, South Korea's ICT and network environments are among the world's most advanced, and as broadband and wireless connectivity continue to expand, service businesses such as cloud, big data and M2M services are expected to develop rapidly.
