The SBI Group announced June 22 it will acquire 40 percent of outstanding equity interests in Chinese bioventure firm Suzhou Yian Biotech Co.
In addition, SBI and the current owners of Yian Biotech have agreed to establish a joint venture in China to market products manufactured by Yian Biotech, including an active ingredient of 5-ALA as well as medicines, health foods and cosmetics that contain 5-ALA.
5-ALA, or 5-aminolevulinic acid, is a compound in the porphyrin pathway that used in the diagnosis of cancer and other diseases.
