BIZ BRIEF: Nissan, Mitsubishi Fuso tie up to supply light trucks

June 29, 2012

Nissan Motor Co. and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp. reached a basic agreement on June 29 regarding reciprocal original equipment manufacturer supply of finished light-duty trucks for the Japanese market.

Under the agreement, Nissan will supply the Atlas F24 light-duty truck (payload 1.5 tons) to Mitsubishi Fuso, and Mitsubishi Fuso will supply the Canter light-duty truck (payload: 2 tons) to Nissan.

The agreement aims to further strengthen both companies' light-duty truck businesses by leveraging their collective knowledge and expertise.

The reciprocal supply of vehicles will contribute to a reduction of development costs, lower manufacturing costs and increase efficiency and productivity for both companies. A formal contract will be concluded in the future that will determine specifics of the timing of the OEM supply and volumes.
