BIZ BRIEF: Showa Denko unit strengthens aluminum laminated film business in China

July 10, 2012

A Showa Denko KK subsidiary has started cooperating with Iwatani Corp.’s two subsidiaries in China to expand its business in aluminum laminated film used for packaging lithium ion rechargeable batteries, Showa Denko said on July 10.

The Iwatani Group’s Suzhou ISR e-Films Co. and Zhongshan Iwatani Co. last month began slitting work and distribution services in China and other Asian markets for Showa Denko Packaging Co.’s aluminum laminated films.

Showa Denko Packaging had handled the manufacturing process in Japan but was seeking ways to more speedily respond to the needs of the growing market in Asia, centering on China, the company said.

The new setup in China will enable Showa Denko Packaging to increase efficiency in distribution, better communicate with customers, substantially shorten the lead time, and improve the level of service, the company said.

Aluminum laminated film ensures higher flexibility in molding and is lighter and has better heat dissipation compared with metallic cans.
