Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. announced on July 19 that its subsidiary Otsuka Sims (Guangdong) Beverage Co. has completed construction of its second Pocari Sweat plant in Jiangmen, Guangdong province, China.
With the new facility, Otsuka's production base in China now totals three plants, including the Tianjin factory. The new plant employs 62 workers and has a maximum production capacity of 200 million bottles annually. Otsuka said the plant will help it meet its goal of broadening and strengthening its sales in Shanghai and Guangdong province.
Otsuka said it will actively accommodate visitors to the plant in an effort to gain new fans of Pocari Sweat. The plant has unique features including a wide path and presentation room for visitors, and a Pocari Sweat "Fun and Innovative" gallery.
In addition, Otsuka said it will continue to further educate consumers on the importance of proper hydration and try to spread the benefits of Pocari Sweat.
