SHANGHAI--One of the most popular sections in the flagship store of Laox Co. in Shanghai is the one offering rice cookers manufactured in Japan.

A long line of shoppers checked out the rice cookers for sale at the store, which opened for business on May 25.

The five-story building has more than 200,000 different items, ranging from home appliances and computers to Japanese cosmetics and toys. Half of the products sold at the Laox outlet are imports from Japan.

Laox is a subsidiary of Suning Appliance Co., China's home appliance giant.

Laox officials want to expand its network in China from the current two outlets to 150 over the next five years.
