Lady Gaga's first fragrance will go on sale in Japan on Aug. 1, one month earlier than its worldwide release, at the pop diva's request.
"Its scent is enchanting and sensual, just like Lady Gaga," said a PR official of trading house Itochu Corp., which is involved in the product's import and sales in the country.
The early release date for the Japan market was set at the request of Lady Gaga, whose support for the country is well known. She has supported rebuilding efforts in the country from last year's Great East Japan Earthquake and recently visited the Tokyo Skytree tower on May 15 before its May 22 opening, when she was on a concert tour of Japan.
The "Lady Gaga Fame" perfume will be sold at Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku, in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward, Itochu said.
The perfume, which U.S. fragrance company Coty Beauty helped develop, is black but turns transparent when it comes into contact with the air. Itochu described the smell as sweet.
The product will be available in three sizes, and the 30-milliliter bottle will retail for a tax-inclusive 4,725 yen ($60).
