TOKYO, May 31, 2012 -- Canon Inc. and Canon Marketing Japan Inc. announced today the introduction in Japan of the new entry-level iVIS HF R32 Full HD digital video camcorder, featuring a wireless transfer function that enables users to easily share captured video with friends and family over the Internet.
Like the iVIS HF M52 (released in February 2012), Canon’s first video camcorder to incorporate a wireless transfer function, the new Canon iVIS HF R32 makes possible the sharing of Full HD video over a Wi-Fi network directly to an iPad, iPhone or other Wi-Fi-capable device. In addition to the conventional AVCHD file format, the HF R32 newly supports MP4, allowing video to be viewed on such devices as an iPad and iPhone. The iOS application Movie Uploader* enables MP4 video files to be saved in an iPad or iPhone library, or uploaded to such video-sharing sites as YouTube via one of these devices. Furthermore, by registering on CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, an exclusive portal for Canon product users, video files can be uploaded and shared online even without an iPad, iPhone or other similar device.
Employing a newly designed Canon HD video lens with 32x optical zoom, the entry-level iVIS HF R32 delivers improvements in wide-angle coverage and zoom range compared with its predecessor, the iVIS HF R21, released in February of 2011. The HF R32 also features an impressive 51x Advanced Zoom made possible through a more efficient use of the CMOS sensor’s effective imaging area. Incorporating a Canon Full HD CMOS image sensor with 2.07 million effective pixels, the camcorder achieves improved microlens transmittance compared with the previous model. The HF R32 is equipped with a high-performance DIGIC DV III image processor delivering high-quality Full HD video while a Relay Recording function enables uninterrupted data capture to an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card when the device’s 32GB internal flash memory is full.
The iVIS HF R32 offers several automatic functions making possible the effortless capture of beautiful video, including Intelligent IS and Smart AUTO, as well as Auto Tele Macro, which delivers exceptional close-ups and shallow depth of field when shooting a nearby subject using telephoto zoom. In addition to offering a user interface easily accessible through its 3.0-inch Flat Touch Panel LCD Screen, the compact, lightweight camcorder realizes a body size that has been reduced by approximately 21% by volume compared with its predecessor and, at 250 grams, weighs 20 grams less. The HF R32 is available in red and black color variations.
The Canon iVIS HF R32 video camcorder will be available in Japan from June 7, 2012, at an open price. Canon has set initial production at 70,000 units per month.
