Japan, which is on its way to recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, is urged to become a “platinum society” that provides solutions to such issues as environmental problems and the aging of society instead of simple restoration of society.
Our society needs to achieve self-sufficiency in energy and resources. To realize this goal, technological innovation is indispensable.
First of all, in order to achieve self-sufficiency in energy, energy efficiency must be drastically improved. If we combine various technologies, I believe it is possible to improve energy efficiency three- to four-fold. At the same time, renewable energies must be evolved.
Japan, which rode out two oil crises in the past and overcame pollution with technological innovation, can certainly achieve that goal. With the realization of a platinum society, Japan must lead the world.
