SOCCER/ Japan unveils new soccer kit

The Japan Football Association and equipment supplier Adidas Japan unveiled the new Japan national squad jersey at Saitama Super Arena on Dec. 26.

The new jersey is deep blue with a thin vertical stripe in the center that expresses the unity of the nation recovering from the Great East Japan Earthquake.

The jersey for the Samurai Blue features a red stripe, while the stripe for Nadeshiko Japan is pink.

"We'll unite and work hard," said Samurai Blue midfielder Shinji Kagawa at the unveiling ceremony.
