Former Japan international and current Yokohama FC forward Kazuyoshi Miura--in his futsal league debut--helped F.League side Espolada Hokkaido to a 3-2 victory over Fuchu Athletic FC in Sapporo on Jan. 15.
This marked the first time a former or active Japan international squad member has participated in Japan's five-a-side indoor soccer league.
The 44-year-old Miura failed to find the net, but threatened the opponent's goal several times.
"I felt a little bit of anxiety because it's been a long time since I last played futsal," Miura said. "The manager and players helped me a lot. I'm pleased we were able to win a home game."
It was Miura’s first and last appearance for the Hokkaido club this season.
"I hope I'll be back again after improving my skills," Miura told the 5,300 fans on hand for the match.
